Sigma DP2 Merrill First Impressions Review

While the success of the Fuji X100 brought significant attention to the idea of an APS-C image sensor in a fixed lens compact camera, they were not the first to debut such a model. Sigma's original DP series put APS-C image sensors in a small body, but they were hardly the smash success that the company hoped they would be. Enter the new Merrill line of DP compacts from Sigma, with the DP2 Merril combining the company's latest innovative 15.4-megapixel (x3, or 46 total megapixels) Foveon image sensor into a camera body no larger than your typical high-end compact camera. The DP2 Merrill also sports a 921k-dot resolution screen with a fixed 30mm f/2.8 lens. It was only displayed in black at CP+ 2012 in Japan, and there's no word yet on pricing or availability.
