Canon PowerShot SD4000 IS $327.95
The Canon PowerShot SD4000 IS is a well priced compact camera that shoots attractive photos (apart from some minor color issues) and decent video, making it a good pick for casual shooters.

Sony Alpha NEX-5 $699.95The NEX-5 looks like the combination of an SLR lens and a point and shoot camera, and handles like one too, with many of the advantages of an SLR without the bulk. We found that the performance of the camera was disappointing, though, with oversaturated color and soft images. - Jun 13, 2010
Nikon Coolpix P100 $369.99Nikon enhanced its high-end ultrazoom with a new sensor, 1080p video, high-speed burst rate shooting and a higher-res articulated LCD, but image quality doesn't match the competition. - May 28, 2010
Canon EOS Rebel T2i $749.00The 18-megapixel Canon Rebel T2i has the same high-res sensor as the more upscale Canon 7D, but the new Rebel isn't actually all that different from last year's T1i. High-quality video shooting at 1080p is a big improvement, but dynamic range and long exposure performance are still unimpressive. - May 19, 2010
Olympus E-PL1 $459.00The least expensive Micro Four Thirds camera to date is a solid step-up for point-and-shooters, with its compact size, built-in flash, and excellent image sharpness. Current SLR shooters may grumble about the relatively slow autofocus and $280 accessory EVF required for eye-level shooting, though. - Mar 19, 2010
Panasonic DMC-TS2 $295.79Many tough cameras sacrifice image quality for robustness, but the TS2 seems to have the best of both worlds, shooting good looking photos and standing up to rough treatment. - Mar 17, 2010
Samsung NX10 $599.00Samsung takes on the Micro Four Thirds crowd with the NX10, a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C sensor. The company successfully avoids the image noise pitfalls of Micro Four Thirds, but faces stiff competition from compact SLRs. - Mar 10, 2010
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 $314.95The Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 is a small camera that takes high quality images with good color and plenty of detail, but which can also handle rough treatment. - Mar 09, 2010
Nikon D300S $1419.00 After 2 1/2 years Nikon tacked mediocre video and an extra card slot onto the aging D300. The D300S might be worth $1700 to a pro on a budget or a demanding amateur, but we were hoping to see more innovation. - Mar 01, 2010
Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 $229.00 The Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 is a tough, smart looking camera that shoots high resolution 14 megapixel images and can take high definition 720p video. - Feb 25, 2010
Fuji Fuji FinePix XP10 $149.99With the XP10 the company is stepping up its waterproof offering with a 5x lens, 720p movies and a slick-looking design. We tried it out at PMA. - Feb 23, 2010
