UCSD Develops New Way to Search Images


Image searchApril 5, 2007 - Internet search engines look for an image not by its content, but rather the file’s title or accompanying descriptive text. Image search results are often vast, but not entirely accurate. Electrical engineers from UC San Diego are working to create a new way to search images; they have developed Supervised Multiclass Labeling, a trainable system that can recognize the content of an image.

CES Digital Photo Frames Round Up

Kodak KAF-10500 CCD Debuts in Leica M8


September 18, 2006 – Last Friday, Eastman Kodak Company announced the new Kodak KAF-10500 image sensor found in the first digital Leica rangefinder camera, the M8. As the second collaboration between the two companies, the Kodak CCD sensor promises low noise, high sensitivity, and wide dynamic range for the Leica M8, according to Kodak’s press release.

Reuters Fires Freelance Photographer for Doctoring Images


August 11, 2006 – This weekend, global news agency Reuters terminated its relationship with Lebanese freelancer Adnan Hajj after discovering the photographer altered an image of the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict. In a three-day period, Reuters received over 200 emails from readers, discovered the altered image, fired Hajj, conducted an in-depth investigation, and then issued an apology to its readers.
