We got our hands on a preproduction model of the camera and the opportunity to shoot in a dramatic setting: a dress rehearsal for New York's Big Apple Circus. October 20, 2009 – Canon today announced the 16.1-megapixel EOS 1D Mark IV digital SLR, with extended ISO settings reaching 102,400. The replacement for the 1D Mark III also offers 1080p video recording and an enhanced autofocus system.

October 14, 2009 - Nikon aims to make a shot in the dark more of a sure thing with the introduction of the D3S, a 12.1-megapixel full-frame SLR with extended ISOs that top out at 102,400. The camera also offers 720p video recording which can take advantage of the full ISO range.

July 30, 2009 - Leica has announced pricing and availability for the 37.5-megapixel S2 camera body in the UK. The release says the camera "will be offered at a very competitive starting price of £15,996," which translates to approximately $26,369. The medium-format digital camera boasts a 30x45mm sensor, which is 56% larger than a 35mm film frame, and a dual-shutter system to enable high flash sync speeds.

July 22, 2009 – Canon announces a new generation of stabilization technology, which will compensate for two types of movement: angle and shift. Angle shake was dealt with by Canon's existing line of IS lenses, but the new system will also compensate for absolute directional movements. This is the first line of SLR lenses to account for both types of shake, and should make its way into lenses before the end of 2009.

November 30, 2008 – Nikon today announced the pro-level D3X, which basically puts a full-frame 24.5-megapixel sensor into the rugged body of the Nikon D3. Even at this high resolution, with image files that can reach 138 megabytes, the D3X can still snap up to five frames per second. Well-heeled Santas will be pleased to learn that the D3X body will be available in December, for $7999.95.

November 13, 2008 - Additional information and tons of photos have been released regarding the “DSLR-killer” promised by RED Digital Cinema president Jim Jannard (see report here). The entirely modular system will be a one-stop still and video recording device with interchangeable bodies, “brains” and lens mount (including Canon, Nikon and RED compatibility).

Feb. 12, 2008 - Panasonic today announced the price and release date for its 32GB SDHC card, first unveiled last month at CES in Las Vegas. The world's first 32GB, Class 6 SDHC card will retail for $699 when it is released in April.
