 Canon has released the firmware update for the EOS REBEL XSi / 450D DSLR. Firmware Update 1.1.0 incorporates the following improvements.
1. Supports the AF assist beam features of the new flash, Speedlite 270 EX, which is scheduled to be released in April 2009.

A new firmware update is now available for Canon EOS Rebel XSi digital SLR. Firmware version 1.0.9 fixes a number if bugs including the following:
* Fixes a phenomenon in which AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing) shooting does not operate normally under specific conditions.
* Fixes a phenomenon in which the Live View exposure simulation warning indication does not properly display during Live View shooting.
* Fixes a phenomenon in which images cannot be played back after continuous shooting when a printer is connected to the camera or a video output terminal is used.

Imaging-Resource recently reviewed the Rebel XSi DSLR and appeared satisfied with the image results, which according to them were “good”. The camera scored points for its fast response time and hence is considered ideal to capture fast-paced action.
Excerpt from conclusion:
“The Canon XSi is also perfectly suited for photographing active children or pets, and its fast shutter response means you won't miss a shot while waiting for the autofocus. Overall, very good results.”

 Richard Baguley from our website Digital Camera Info took the hot favorite Canon Digital Rebel XSi for a spin. With the XSi, Canon once again manages to impress and this new DSLR may not be groundbreaking however it does hold its own.
According to the review, the XSi strength lies in its image performance and its ergonomic body. The camera also impresses with its bright 3-inch LCD screen and the Live View feature. However the autofocus was found to be a tad slow and handling the camera manually can be a little exhausting.
“The XSi is a great camera as well; it is easy to use and shoots great photos. It may not be a mold-breaking revolution, but it's a good upgrade to the XTi and a great camera in its own right.”

The Canon EOS Rebel XSi just like its predecessor seems to be emerging as a hot favorite. Digital Trends is the latest website to review this user friendly DSLR and lets see how the 12 MOPshooter faired.
On testing the Burst Mode in AF setting with maximum JPEG size (4272 x 2848 pixels), the camera proved its quite a speed devil and quite capable of achieving Canon’s f 3.5 frames per second rating. Digital noise is barely visible and the imaging quality was found to be top-notch. However the over-hyped Live View is a disappointment and quite useless according to the review.
Verdict:
“We hate to sound like a skipping Internet audio stream, but it’s very easy to recommend the Canon Rebel XSi. It’s a fast-focusing, speedy D-SLR that delivers excellent photos both indoors and outside. At 12.2-megapixels, the camera also has more than enough resolution for huge prints, and you can just shoot in auto or tweak images as much as you’d like”
