SanDisk has started shipping the latest versions of its ImageMate memory card readers. The updated versions are sleeker and faster than their predecessors. The All-In-One memory card reader can reach speeds of up to 34 megabytes per second (MB/s)1 when using a SanDisk Extreme® IV 45MB/s CompactFlash® card, and the Multi-Card reader is capable of up to 30MB/s2 read and 27 MB/s write data transfer rates when using a SanDisk Extreme® III 30MB/s Edition SDHC™ card. Both the ImageMate All-in-One and Multi-Card readers come with a two year limited warranty and support SDHC, miniSDHC™, microSDHC™, MMC, Memory Stick®, Memory Stick Pro Duo™, xD and CompactFlash, among others.

SanDisk has developed the world’s first high performance 4-bits-per-cell (X4) flash memory which uses 43-nanometer (nm) process technology. This would enable the company to incorporate 64-gigabit (Gb) memory in a single die. SanDisk has also produced an advanced X4 controller, which is necessary to effectively manage the complexities and performance requirements of X4 memory.

SanDisk and Sony Corporation announced the joint development of two expanded formats that will the determine flash memory landscape for years to come. Memory Stick format for Extended High Capacity expands the Memory Stick PRO format series to achieve a maximum storage capacity of 2-terabytes while the "Memory Stick HG Micro" format enables a maximum data-transfer speed of 60 megabytes per second (MB/s).

SanDisk has been named an International CES Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for its 16 gigabyte microSDHC and Memory Stick Micro memory cards. The cards let one take full advantage of multimedia devices that offer music and video playback, photo and video recording functions, gaming and GPS applications. The memory cards will be demonstrated at the 2009 International CES in South Hall # 30659, which runs January 8-11, 2009 in Las Vegas.

The new 32GB SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash card has been designed exclusively keeping in mind the needs of Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II users. The card can store over an hour and a half of video at full HD resolution and has an impressive write speed of 30 megabyte-per-second2 (MB/s).
“The Canon EOS-5D Mark II highlights the newest trend in DSLRs which is to combine high-quality still photography with full HD video,” said Susan Park, director of product marketing at SanDisk. “This is truly a remarkable camera that takes full advantage of the SanDisk Extreme family of high-performance and large-capacity memory cards.”

SanDisk is now shipping their SD WORM card, which is a Write Once Read Many (WORM) digital memory card. Digital data written to SanDisk SD WORM cards is effectively locked as soon as it is recorded and cannot be tampered. Hence it is perfect for investigative photography.
Applications for the SanDisk SD WORM card include:
* Police photography and witness/suspect interviews, where courts require proof that photos and audio recordings are genuine.
* Court proceedings, such as trials and depositions.
* Electronic voting, where recorded votes must be tamper-proof.
* Cash registers which record transactions for tax collection purposes.
* Event recorders, such as security cameras and “black box” flight-data recorders.
* Medical devices which retain individual patient treatment data.
* Personal digital assistants (PDAs) and similar devices used by physicians and other health-care professionals to track patient interactions.

SanDisk Corporation at the PMA 2008 announced the latest additions to the SanDisk Ultra® II line cards which boast of better performance and larger storage capacities. Both the new 32 and 16GB SDHC™ cards and the 8GB SDHC Plus card offer read and write speeds of 15MB/sec making them perfect for the high-end user.
The 32GB Ultra II SDHC card is abale to store 8,000 high-resolution pictures or up to 40 hours of video and comes bundled with the SanDisk MicroMate™ USB 2.0 Reader. Where as the 8GB SanDisk Ultra II SDHC Plus offers both SD™ and USB functionality and comes equipped with a patented Hinge Lock technology.
The 32GB SanDisk Ultra II SDHC card with MicroMate USB 2.0 Reader has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $349.99 and the 16GB card has a suggested price of $179.99. The 8GB SanDisk Ultra II SDHC Plus card will have an MSRP of $99.99.
