Releasing high-capacity cards has become a sort of prerequisite these days thanks to the increasing popularity of high end camcorders and digicams. SanDisk wasn’t the only one to announce high-capacity memory cards since competitor Kingston also saw the PMA event as the perfect place to unveil their new 16GB Class 4 SDHC Flash memory card.
A Class 4 SDHC card, the new 16GB card is capable of a minimum Data transfer rate of 4 megabytes per second and the in-built write-protect switch, prevents accidental data loss. The Kingston 16GB card can store around 7,500 images and capture more than four hours or video. The new 16GB card is the largest capacity in Kingston’s line of SDHC cards, which include 4- and 8GB SDHC Class 2/4/6 versions.
“Higher resolution digital cameras and increasingly popular HD video camcorders require high capacity memory cards with faster data transfer rates (DTRs) to maximize overall performance of the recording device,” said Jaja Lin, Flash memory marketing manager, Kingston.
