The Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR is different from the current crop of compact cameras thanks to its new generation CCD sensor, the EXR. The sensor offers 3 selectable modes, which are; Fine Capture Mode (High Resolution), Pixel Fusion Mode (High Sensitivity and Low Noise), and Dual Capture (Wide Dynamic Range). The 12-MegaPixel camera will debut in February 2009 at a retail price of $399.95.

Those looking for a DSLR alternative can give the Fujifilm S100fs a shot as it also recently got honored with DIWA Gold Award. The S100fs features a 14.3x zoom lens and has an 11 Megapixel resolution.
Kai Thon, test manager of DIWA Labs, concludes: “Too many D-SLR owners never make use of the camera’s interchangeable lens advantage. Choosing the Fujifilm FinePix S100FS with the powerful high-performance 14.3x Fujinon zoom lens covers virtually any photographic task; all in one lens. Although the camera’s image quality may not quite match a comparable D-SLR in all respects, many versatile features and a comfortable D-SLR-like design make the Fujifilm FinePix S100FS into a very sensible and budget friendly alternative.”
Unbiased test results by DxO Analyzer of the image quality are available at:http://www.diwa-labs.com.

Lets Go Digital reviews the Fujifilm Finepix S100fs and give it 3 out of 5 stars. While the camera was found to be a good alternative to a DSLR, the S100fs is not without its faults. The camera does a decent job when it comes to enlargements and print jobs but suffers from a number of issues that may put off the more serious photographer.
Excerpt from review: “the camera has a tad too many issues that I can't or won't get used to. It is a typical case of a camera that performs excellently when tested extensively in a lab but doesn't live up to that expectation in practice. But then again, not everybody might look upon this as a big problem”.

Fuji FinePix S100fs, which is a prosumer camera, was recently reviewed by DCRP. The camera scored brownie points for its image quality, its image stabilization engine, its sharp display and the on board VGA movie mode with optical zoom and image stabilization.
Excerpt from the review:
“The S100fs is better than other ultra zooms in most respects, save for purple fringing, RAW editing, and battery life. Is it $300 - $400 better? I'm not so sure of that. If you're willing to part with nearly $700 on a fixed-lens camera, then the FinePix S100fs is absolutely worth a look.”

Firmware version 1.02 for the FinePix F100fd digital camera is now available for download on the Fujifilm website.
The firmware update Ver.1.02 incorporates the following issues.
- Reduce "pinkish-colored band" which may be rarely found in the left side edge of image when the image is shot at ISO 400 or shot without flash on "NATURAL & FLASH MODE".
•Precaution
1. If firmware updating fails, the camera may no longer operate correctly in some cases.
Carefully read the notes provided here.
2. Always use the AC adapter when updating the firmware as a basic manner. Never turn the camera off or attempt to use any of the camera controls while the firmware is being overwritten.
3. Firmware updating requires approximately 20 seconds.
4. Once the firmware has been updated, the previous version cannot be restored.

T3 decided to pay some attention to the Fujifilm Finepix S100FS and were mighty impress by its super zoom lens. The Face detection feature also worked like a charm and even the red-eye removal technology was found to be objective.
The Fujifilm Finepix S100FS with its 14X zoom can handle a number of photography situations and is ideal for those who want to move away from compact camera but don’t want to deal with complicated DSLRs. The only gripe T3 has with the fast shooter were its chunky body and weak viewfinder.
Conclusion:
“Fujifilm really, really wants to make an affordable and simple bridge clicker. Come back when they do”.
