The Nikon D60 DSLR got reviewed by the website Photoxels who think its an “excellent” family DSLR and perfect for those who are looking to upgrade from point and shoot cameras.
While there is no Live View feature on the D60, the reviewer feels that this may just be a blessing in disguise as that feature hasn’t really taken off in other DSLRs.Images was found to be bright and the exposure is spot on.

Steve Morgenstern from Digital Camera Info put the Nikon D60 under the spotlight recently and lets see how the camera fared. While the camera performed well, it still failed to be the “top choice”.The Nikon D60 was found to be a responsive camera with an effective dust removal system. However its Achilles Heel was its limited autofocus system and the cheap plastic body.
Says Steve:
“The Nikon D60 sits in an odd niche in the market. It's not the least expensive well appointed digital SLR you can buy, and for just a few dollars more you can buy a substantially superior camera. However, the D60 also lagged in several equally important areas, including white balance and dynamic range.”

Steve from Steve Digicams took the Nikon D60 for a spin and gives it brownie points for its Image Sensor Cleaning system, a motion sensor that automatically switches the LCD display from portrait to landscape, and a "Stop Motion" video feature. Though an “entry-level” DSLR, the D60 delivers more and is suitable for most photographers.
Conclusion:
“The new Nikon D60 is quite impressive for an entry-level dSLR, offering superb performance, great image quality, and multiple exposure options. The 3fps continuous drive mode (or 3.5fps in our testing), Sensor Cleaning system and onboard HELP Menu are distinct improvements for this soon to be popular camera.”

The Nikon D60 which has emerged as a favorite among critics also seemed to impress the website OutBack Photo. It scored brownie points for its good image quality and the camera dust cleaning system. The ergonomics of the camera are just right and the camera responds well in almost all photographic conditions. Photo however feels that Nikon should have added features like Auto Exposure Bracketing and Live Preview.

The entry level Nikon D60 DSLR has been reviewed by the Good Gear Guide who seem to be extremely impressed by Nikon’s latest offering. Images produced were accurate and “razor sharp” according the reviewer. The camera managed to impress on all counts and is at par with other Nikon DSLRs. ISO sensitivities extend to ISO 1600 and the inclusion of Dust reduction and Active D-Lighting is a thoughtful addition by Nikon.
Operating at four frames per second, the burst mode was found to be pretty adequate for the casual user. However the D60 is not without its fault and the Live View function was missed. The camera at times also produced minor chromatic aberrations.

Since its release, the Nikon D60 is making its way to all the various review websites and online magazines. ePHOTOzine is yet another website which took the D60 for a spin and as expected came out satisfied.
The Nikon D60 is a complete workhorse and was found to be the perfect camera for semi-professionals and serious amateurs. The D60’s image quality was “excellent”, the inclusion of the Rangefinder, D-Lighting and in camera RAW Processor a welcome addition. The only complaint the reviewer had was against the slow review feature and the fact that the camera has only three focus points.

Lets Go Digital reviews the Nikon D60 and give it an “Excellent” rating. The D60 according to them takes the best from Nikon’s other DSLRs like D40 / D40x which makes it a great entry-level camera. Image quality was found to be “excellent” and the integration of an anti-dust system is a much-welcomed addition.
An excerpt from the review:
“In my opinion the Nikon D60 is absolutely a recommendable camera. The facts prove it; convincing image quality, a great deal of user's ease and an excellent price/quality ratio. I think it makes the D60 a highly attractive combination.”

The Nikon D60 comes equipped with Nikon’s EXPEED image processing concept and also features a new dual dust reduction countermeasure function. Packaged with Nikon's new AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR image stabilization lens, the D60 should be available throughout the United States beginning in February 2008.
