Panasonic Corporation has announced their plans to develop a professional 3D Full HD production system. This path-breaking system would include a twin-lens P2 professional camera recorder and a 3D-compatible High Definition Plasma display. Panasonic will exhibit concept models at NAB 2009 to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 20, 2009.

Shapeways Photoshaper is a new service that lets one transform their images into 3D with just a few mouse clicks. A depth-layered 3D object is created automatically based on contrast of the picture, which can be printed by Shapeways with the latest in 3D printing technology (Rapid Prototyping). The 3D photo will be produced and delivered globally within 10 days and costs between $40-50 (USD), including shipping.

Microsoft Photosynth is now available for download. Photosynth transforms regular digital photos into a three-dimensional, 360-degree experience and with it Microsoft hopes to revolutionalise the imaging experience. This service unfortunately is not available to Mac users though MS says it’s working on it. The program runs on Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista, and supports Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers.

If you like experimenting (in photography) then the Loreo 3D Lens in a Cap (patent pending) may just work. The 3D body cap transforms a standard DSLR or SLR into a 3D camera. The processed 3D prints can be viewed with LOREO Deluxe or Lite 3D viewers or on computer screens with a Loreo Lite 3D Viewer.
The 3D Cap has a matched pair of focusing lenses, focusing range from one meter to infinity. A 3D effect is formed by transposing two images and for more info head over here.
