September 1, 2006 – Canon and Nikon had the greatest number of eBay DSLR sales the past two weeks, according to Photo Marketing Association Data Watch. In a survey ending August 29, eBay’s best-selling DSLR model was the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT.
The 8.0 megapixel Canon Digital Rebel XT sold at an average price of $659.23 on eBay, down from the introductory retail price of $999.95 in February 2005. Other popular models included the 8.2 megapixel Canon EOS 30D that sold for $1,197.86 and the 20D at $952.78.
Nikon fared well with its 10.2 megapixel Nikon D200 which came in as the second best-selling DSLR on eBay; it sold for an average of $1,547.05. Other best-selling products included the 6.1 megapixel Nikon D70 and D50, which sold for $849.95 and $693.85, respectively.
Canon and Nikon both released upgraded DSLR models this month with the Canon Digital Rebel XTi and the Nikon D80.
