Webshots Launches Free Storage Site: AllYouCanUpload.com

May 24, 2006 – For photographers who need a little extra storage space for their vast amounts of files, photo sharing site Webshots launched another site yesterday to facilitate unlimited free uploads. AllYouCanUpload.com doesn’t require users to register, but does send users to Webshots for registration if they want to save the photos in albums.

“Webshots understands the variable needs of photo uploaders and is providing AllYouCanUpload.com as an answer to those seeking a tool for fast, easy, free uploads,” said James Park, director of product development at Webshots, in yesterday’s press release.

Users can insert up to 10 image files per upload with no limit on the size of photos. The site generates links to the photos instantly so users can copy and paste them into blogs, message boards, email, auction sites or instant messengers.

The free hosting service isn’t a new concept; the number of U.S. households storing pictures online tripled between 2004 and 2005, according to the Digital Image Marketing Association. Only 1 percent of digital camera owners pay a fee for their hosting service. Photo sharing sites range from the specialized photo sites to drug store web sites to email providers and other companies that have offered the service.
