Product Tour
The 14.2-megapixel Sony NEX-5 is offered in two different kits, one with an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 optically stablized lens ($699.99), the other with a fixed-focus 16mm f/2.8 lens, without stabilization ($649.99). We tested the version with the stabilized lens. It was introduced at the same time as the NEX-3, also available in two kit lens configurations, each priced $100 lower than the NEX-5. There are slight differences in body size and a different hand grip configuration, but the main upgrades for NEX-5 buyers are 1080i video mode (the NEX-3 tops out at 720p) and support for an optional wireless remote control.
