December 13, 2005 – Sony has been forced to remove six of their digital camera models from Chinese retailers’ shelves after the Zhejiang Industrial and Commercial Bureau found problems during routine product spot checks. The digital cameras pulled have been cited as having substandard “imaging quality and automatic exposure effect,” according to Xinhau and include problems with imaging balance, white balance, automatic exposure and faulty LCD screens.
The Sony DSC-H1, DSC-L, DSC-P200, DSC-W7, DSC-W5 and the DSC-S90 digital camera models are among the bad production batches that were pulled. The Zhejiang bureau has opened a formal investigation into the quality control problem and has launched further spot checks throughout the Chinese provinces.
