Sample Photos

In the following sample images, clicking on the larger image will download the full resolution original. Each photo is accompanied by four actual-size crops.

Macro Sample

Focal length: 4.43mm
ISO: 125
Aperture: f/3.5
Shutter speed: 1/5 of a second

This macro shot shows how the TX7 can focus in to a very short distance (down to 0.39 inches), but that you don’t get much depth of field in the resulting images. The snowflake is pretty sharp, but everything surrounding it is out of focus.

Panorama Example

Focal length: 4.43mm
ISO: 125
Aperture: f/4.5
Shutter speed: 1/320 of a second

Shot in the iSweep Panorama mode, this panoramic shot of Davies Square shows what a good job this camera does of creating panoramas. The panorama is created within the camera, but there is little evidence of banding or blurring where the frames are joined together. The image is a little soft, though, with fine details getting a little lost.

Backlit Compensation HDR Example

Focal length: 4.43mm
ISO: 125
Aperture: f/6.3
Shutter speed: 1/250 of a second

This shot was taken using the Backlight Compensation HDR mode, which takes two shots of different exposures and composites them together. The camera did a very decent job of this: the only visible sign of the compositing is a slight halo effect around the edges of the head.
