We've gone hands-on with the Sony Alpha NEX-F3, the latest entry-level camera packing an APS-C image sensor.

Introduction

The Sony NEX-F3 is the follow-up to the critical darling Sony NEX-C3, the most petite offering in Sony's lineup of APS-C image sensor-packing compact interchangeable lens cameras. The NEX-F3 offers some significant upgrades to the NEX-C3's internals, but what is most interesting is its actual shape. While Sony's NEX line seemed hell-bent on being the slimmest body in town (despite the fact that APS-C sensor cameras have almost all large, bulky lenses), the NEX-F3 actually comes in larger than the C3, with a redesigned grip that is far easier to hold than its predecessor. The F3 is otherwise a similar formula, with the same menu system as previous NEX cameras, an almost identical control scheme to the C3, and the additions of a built-in flash and new image sensor. The Sony NEX-F3 is available starting at $599.99 in black, white, and silver.
