Sigma Presents 70-200mm EX DG Macro Lens

June 23, 2006 – Sigma Co. announced yesterday the launch of their newest macro lens, the APO 70-200mm f2.8 EX DG Macro HSM for the Canon EF mount. The suggested retail price is $1200 and is available now, according to a Sigma representative.

This large aperture telephoto zoom lens is equipped with a multi-layer coating to reduce flare and has a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for quiet, high-speed autofocusing.
The 70-200mm f2.8 macro lens supplements Sigma’s zoom line, finding its place along side the non-macro 70-200 f2.8, similarly priced at $1140 and the slower 70-300mm f4-5.6 macro, retailed at $200.

Sigma represents itself as “one of the first companies to successfully introduce the interchangeable lens,” and is a leading manufacturer of alternative lenses for Canon and Nikon SLRs.

The 70-200mm DG Macro lens will be available for Nikon’s F-mount in July.
