Sigma Postpones SD14 Release Until Next Year

December 7, 2006 – Sigma Corp. announced the postponement of its new flagship DSLR, the SD14, which was originally announced at Photokina just a few months back. Originally slated for late November, the Sigma SD 14 will be delayed until late February or early March 2007, according to a Sigma release today.

“We found one issue that occurred occasionally and only under certain circumstances,” stated the release.  The “issue” will require a hardware change thus causing delays in availability of the 14-megapixel camera.

During the camera's introduction, Sigma boasted its high resolution, Foveon X3 design to capture RGB colors, and dust reduction system. “The amount of interest shown in our digital imaging products at Photokina 2006 and thereafter was very encouraging,” noted the press release.

Unfortunately, anxious Sigma users will have to wait until next year for the SD14.
