Sigma Launches Two Nikon Mounted Lenses


June 27, 2007 – Sigma today announced two new lenses for Nikon DSLRs, both compatible with the D40 and D40x. The Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC HSM and 55-200mm f/4-5.6 DC HSM lenses include Sigma’s HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) system for quiet auto focusing.

Sigma makes lenses compatible with major manufacturers's cameras, including Nikon, Canon, and Pentax. The new Sigma 18-50mm is a compact zoom lens, constructed of 8 elements in 8 groups, including an aspherical lens. The lens has a minimum aperture of f/22 and weighs 8.8 ounces.

The Sigma 55-200mm consists of 12 elements in 9 groups. The lens has a minimum aperture of f/22 and weighs 10.9 ounces. Both lenses have Super Multi Layer Coating to reduce flare and ghosting and include a bayonet type lens hood. Pricing and availability have not been released.
