Shutterfly and Target Partner for Retail Pickup
May 7, 2007 – Online photo sharing website Shutterfly today announced its partnership with Target. Beginning May 30, Shutterfly members will be able to pick up their prints at Target retail outlets. "This partnership provides a first-of-its kind retail channel for Shutterfly with one of the nation’s leading consumer brands," said Shutterfly President and CEO Jeffrey Housenbold, "and we are delighted to have found in Target the ideal business partner to give consumers the quality experience they expect from Shutterfly."
Shutterfly members can upload their photos online and opt for the traditional at-home mail delivery or the 1-hour pick up service that will soon be available at Target. In addition, Target will showcase in-store displays for gift ideas.
Known for its photo books and greeting card products, Shutterfly has over 1 billion images stored in its archives, according to a company press release. There are more than 1,500 Target stores in 47 U.S. states.
In 2005, Target announced its partnership with Yahoo Photos for photo pick-up service. Last week, Yahoo announced it will shut down the popular photo sharing website in favor of the more profitable Yahoo-owned Flickr.
