Conclusion

Samsung TL350

There's both delight and frustration in evaluating a pre-production camera where not all the bells chime and the whistles sometimes hoot out of tune. The good news here: there's extraordinary shooting flexibility here, with full manual controls, a full 1080p movie mode and a 10 shot per second burst mode that promises to make capturing fast-moving subjects relatively easy -- shoot first, choose the winners later. As for slow-motion video, we've tried it on several Casio cameras and found it becomes less intriguing the more you use it, but in this case, at $350, you're really not paying much of a price premium to acquire this capability, which make us less judgmental about its long-term appeal. The unanswerable questions at this stage of development, is whether the camera controls will work smoothly in the final model, and whether the image quality will pass muster. We look forward to answering these in our labs as soon as final production units are available, since the price/performance promise of the Samsung TL350 is genuinely exciting.
