Samsung Presents 8 Megapixel Camera Phone

November 3, 2005 - How many megapixels do you need in your camera phone? If you needed 5 last November, Samsung was there. If you needed 7 this past March, Samsung was there again. And if you need 8, Samsung today answered your prayers by unveiling the new SPH-V8200 camera phone, with 8 megapixels, a TFT LCD display, and an autofocus system. But you can only snag one if you live in Korea, and you’ll have to wait until next month before the product hits the shelves.

President of Samsung’s Telecommunications Network Ki-Tae Lee was the first to demonstrate the new camera phone, saying, “This model is by no means inferior even to an expert-class digital camera since it is armed with many advanced features.”

The only other manufacturer who has come close to Samsung in this department is LG Electronics, who has just this year developed a 5 megapixel camera phone model.
