Samsung Launches Digimax L70

August 9, 2006 – On Friday, Samsung added a point-and-shoot camera to their L-series Premium line, the Digimax L70. The 7.1 megapixel point-and-shoot will be available this month for an undisclosed price.

The Digimax L70 is “the practical full-function camera that matches the stylish trend of the international market,” according to Samsung’s news release.

The Samsung Digimax L70 follows the L60 released in February 2006. The L70 has a similar design but offers more resolution than its 6 megapixel predecessor, retailed at $299. The L70 is fitted with a 3x optical zoom lens and has a slightly larger 2.5-inch LCD screen that automatically adjusts brightness to conserve battery power. Like the next model up, the Digimax L80, the L70 and has movie capabilities and an ISO 800 sensitivity setting.

With an added handgrip, the camera adds more stability, matched with its anti-shake reduction technology. The L70, measuring just 17.5 mm thick, has 9 Touch-and-Click multi-controller buttons.

In efforts to become a major player in the digital camera market, Samsung launched the new L70, in addition to the five other cameras released last month, which include its “New Vision” product line and two S-series cameras. Samsung’s numerous product releases are part of the company’s goal to become “the world’s top-tier digital camera maker in 2007,” according to their website.
