February 20, 2007 – Samsung today unveiled the L77 and is calling it the “world’s thinnest 7 megapixel camera.” The camera measures less than an inch thick and comes with a 7x optical zoom lens. The camera will retail for $399.99 when it becomes available in April.
“The L77 offers an extremely compact and elegant design, combined with a host of advanced features and functionalities, making it the ideal camera for those looking for the latest in sleek design and premium digital compact camera performance,” stated a company press release today.
The Samsung L77 totes 7.1 megapixels, slightly less than the the 7.2-megapixel Digimax L70 that came before it from Samsung's “Slim” line. Measuring 94 x 21 x 57mm (3.7 x 0.82 x 2.24 inches), the L77 upgrades to a higher 7x optical zoom lens, up from 3x optical zoom on its predecessor. It also expands maximum sensitivity to ISO 1600, up from ISO 800.
Like the model before it, the L77 has a 2.5-inch, 230,000 pixel LCD and comes equipped with Samsung’s ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) image stabilization.
The L77 is capable of MPEG-4 video recording at 30fps at 640x480 resolution. Users can enable the Movie Stabilizer mode to reduce blur during video capture. Users can also engage the Continuous Movie mode that allows users to pause and restart video capture without having to save individual movie clips separately. The L77 comes with built-in still and video functions, including cropping, resizing, and special effects tools. The Samsung L77 is compatible with SD, SDHC, and MMC media.
