Samsung Intros 4 New Cameras at CES: the HZ10W, TL100, SL102 and SL420
January 7, 2009 - Samsung today introduced its new camera lineup for the first half of 2009, consisting of four models:

HZ10W: The key feature for this 10.2-megapixel model is a 10x optical zoom lens (24mm-240mm equivalent) with both optical and digital image stabilization. Video is another noteworthy area, with 720p high-def video capture at 30 frames per second, and files stored in the efficient H.264 format. An unusual feature while shooting video is the ability to pause and restart within a single file.
The HZ10W includes a 2.7-inch LCD with 230,000-dot resolution, in a body that measures 4.13 x 2.42 x 1.5 inches (105mm x 61.4mm x 36.5mm). It will be available in January for $299.99.

TL100: A 0.65-inch (16.6mm) thin pocket-size model, the brushed stainless steel TL100 shoots at 12.2 megapixel resolution with a 3x optical zoom, digital (i.e., no hardware) image stabilization and a 2.7-inch LCD. Samsung introduces its version of intelligent scene recognition with this model. The Smart Auto feature sets the camera to an appropriate scene mode, such as portrait or landscape, based on its analysis of the subject. The TL100 will be available in the spring, with price to be announced.

SL Series: Two new cameras join this line, the SL102 and SL420, both with 10.2-megapixel resolution. The SL420 offers a 5x lens (with optical and digital stabilization) and a 2.7-inch LCD, while the SL102 (shown here) has a 3x zoom with digital-only stabilization and a 2.5-inch screen. Both cameras will ship in the spring, with pricing to be announced.
