The Samsung HZ15W packs a 10x zoom into a very compact camera, complete with impressive image quality, 720p video and plenty of manual control.

Sample Photos
In the following sample images, clicking on the larger image will download the full resolution original. Each photo is accompanied by three actual-size crops.
| Landscape Sample |
ISO: 80
Focal length:4.2mm
Aperture: f/3.3
Exposure: 1/90
Taken outdoors on a cloudy day, using automatic white balance, and forest color mode.
The forest color mode brightens the foliage noticeably. The difference in sharpness between the center and periphery is also visible.
Macro Sample
ISO: 400
Focal length:4.2mm
Aperture: f/3.3
Exposure: 1/60
Shot in macro mode, with white balance set to cloudy. The high ISO was necessitated by the poor light conditions, and lousy weather.
The cloudy white balance gave everything a reddish tinge, even on normal color mode. With ISO 400 noise starts to become visible at full size.

| Color Sample |
ISO: 80
Focal length:6.3mm
Aperture: f/3.9
Exposure: 1/10
This still life is based around objects of known color, so you can see easily, based on the real world, how the camera handles color performance.
The HZ15W's most accurate color mode was "calm", though it had some issues with orange and blue.
Low Light Sample
ISO: 1600
Focal length:7.9mm
Aperture: f/4.2
Exposure: 0.7
Shot under very low light, using the highest full-resolution ISO, with automatic white balance. The camera had a bit of trouble metering this situation properly.
With the photo scaled down to the extend seen on the left, it doesn't look too bad.

The full size crops show just how bad the noise actually is. |
