Samsung Digimax V800 Formally Introduced

Las Vegas, Nevada, January 5, 2006 – Samsung formally introduced its high-end Digimax V800 today. The 8 megapixel digital camera comes equipped with a Schneider-Kreuznach 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.5-inch LCD screen. With more megapixels, a larger LCD, and faster processing speeds than its V700 predecessor, the V800 will be available this month for $399.

The V800 and the older V700 have a few things in common. They both have Schneider-Kreuznach 3x optical zoom lenses. Both have a range of manual functionality with manual and priority modes. Each camera has a movie mode that shoots 640 x 480 pixels at a rate of 30 frames per second. The Samsung V800 differs in that it adds a digital image stabilization system and movie editing options. In fact, the Digimax V800 has a successive video feature that lets users start and stop recording several times and provides the option of melding it into a single clip.

The old V700 has a 2-inch LCD screen, so the new V800’s larger 2.5-inch screen is a welcome addition. Samsung doesn’t skimp on its resolution either; it comes with 230,000 pixels. The new model also adds 32 MB of internal memory and a unique Special Effects button that accesses extras like photo frames and color filters.

The Samsung Digimax V800 has not only manual functionality, but the ease of use that comes with simplistic scene modes. The V800 has 11 scene modes and adds a My Set custom mode. The digital camera appeals to point-and-shooters with a fashionista streak, as it comes in both light and dark silver colors.
