Ricoh Redesigns Logo

April 20, 2005 – Ricoh revealed a new corporate logo today, which will be used beginning in September 2005. Ricoh’s current logo has been in use since 1986 and appears a bit outdated. To refresh the company’s image, Ricoh redesigned the logo to symbolize “Ricoh’s three core values: 1) Simplify knowledge creation, 2) Think solutions that fit, [and] 3) Harmonize with the environment.”

Ricoh has not focused much on its digital camera sector, but aims more for the digital networking industry. The company wants to be more globally accepted and the new logo is supposed to help it out. According to the press release, “the rounded edges of the new logo were designed to express intelligence tempered by a friendly and human disposition. At the same time readability on a global scale is greatly enhanced.”
