July 9, 2007 – Raizlabs Corporation has launched PicMe Photo Sharing service, which allows users to share up to 200 photos for free. Customers may also purchase a premium account, which starts at an annual rate of $9.95 and allows 4,800 more photos to be shared.
“We wanted to remove the barriers to sharing photos. Unlike many of the existing web sharing tools we focused on the desktop experience, because that’s where your photos live.” said Gregory Raiz, founder of Raizlabs, in a press release.
PicMe integrates with other photo sharing sites such as Flickr, and offers what the company calls a "3-D desktop experience."
“Although we use a lot of innovative technology our focus has been on making the product easy enough for novice users.” said Craig Spitzkoff, vice president of development for Raizlabs, in a press release.
Customers who use the free version of PicMe can share 200 photos with unlimited contacts and 10 groups, while premium account users may share 5,000 photos with unlimited contacts and 20 groups. A professional account is also available, which includes 15,000 photos with unlimited contacts and groups for $29.95 annually. The software is available for download on the company’s website.
