Photoshop CS2 and CS3 Security Issues Addressed

Adobe Photoshop CS3July 13, 2007 – Adobe Systems Inc. this week released software updates for Photoshop, versions CS2 and CS3. The updates correct vulnerabilities that allow users to mistakenly open corrupted photo files that are at risk. Addressing Photoshop’s "security vulnerabilities," the updates will repair problems with BMP, DIB, RLE, and PNG files in the application. Adobe recommends that all users of Photoshop CS2 and CS3 of both Windows and Mac systems update their software.

"Multiple input validation errors have been identified in Photoshop CS2 and Photoshop CS3 which could lead to the potential execution of arbitrary code," stated a July 10th company release. "These vulnerabilities are not remotely exploitable, but could, for instance, be triggered by opening a malicious BMP, DIB, RLE or PNG file delivered to a user via their e-mail client."

Photoshop users can download the security update from Adobe’s security bulletin webpage.
