September 13, 2006 - Along with the unveiling of the K10D DSLR, Pentax introduced a new point-and-shoot, the Optio T20 today. The 7-megapixel camera features a 3-inch touch screen LCD and will retail for $349.95 when it becomes available next month.
As the upgrade to the Pentax T10, the Optio T20 offers increased resolution, up to 7-megapixels, while retaining the extending 3x optical zoom lens and 3-inch LCD screen, composed of 230,000 pixels.
The Pentax Optio T20 is the “thinnest digital camera in this class,” stated today’s Pentax press release. Measuring 0.77-inch thick, the Optio T20 is slimmer than its predecessor which measured 0.8-inch thick.
Accessible through the touch panel LCD, the T20 contains a Mode Palette. Mode Palette allows users to select 12 shooting modes directly from the LCD by tapping on the monitor. The increasingly popular touch screen feature is seen in other cameras including Sony’s DSC-T50 and N2, which were released a few days prior to this Pentax model.
The Pentax T20 retains a noteable My Drawing mode in which users can directly draw on images using an included stylus pen. In addition to the drawing capabilities, users can decorate their images with built-in digital frames and stamps.
Other notable features include a Function (Fn) setting, in which users can store frequently used settings. The Pentax T20 records video at 640x480 at 30fps.
The camera has 12 MB of internal memory and supports SD memory cards.
