Sample Photos

In the following sample images, clicking on the larger image will download the full resolution original. Each photo is accompanied by four actual-size crops.

Landscape Sample

Focal length: 5mm
ISO: 64
Aperture: f/4.2
Shutter speed: 1/125 of a second

This shot of a Boston summer’s day was taken with the W80 in the auto pict mode, where the camera chose a low ISO and a medium shutter speed. As you can see from the crops below, the images are sharp at the center, but rather soft at the edges.

Landscape Panorama Sample

This shot was taken using the Digital Panorama mode of the W80, which takes three images and stitches them together in the camera. The W80 did a decent job here, but you can see the joins where the camera stitched the images together, These may have been caused by the fact that the images are not completely matched up, because it was several degrees below zero when the images were taken.

Landscape Sample

Focal length: 11.10mm
ISO: 64
Aperture: f/4.2
Shutter speed: 1/160 of a second

Taken in the midst of a classic Nor’easter, this holiday card shot shows how the W80 can produce sharp images (see the first crop), but the edges of the frame are rather softer.

Low Light Sample

Focal length: 11.1mm
ISO: 800
Aperture: f/4.6
Shutter speed: 1/4 of a second

This image was shot in the camera’s program mode, with a single light bulb illuminating the scene from the right, and the flash disabled. The camera chose an ISO level of 800, which means that there is a fair amount of noise in the image (see the crops below for examples).
