Review Highlights

Introduction

The Panasonic Lumix TS20 is a “lite” tough cam: Strong enough to withstand a few bumps, bruises, and splashes, but not built like a tank—or priced like one either. It could be a solid choice for parents who don’t want to worry about any tragedies befalling their camera when, for instance, their young child gets a hold of it.

We spent a few minutes with the TS20 in a briefing at CES 2012 and gathered a few initial impressions to share. Read on for more.

The TS20 will be available in late February for $179.99 in orange, blue, red, and black.

Handling

A slightly beefy point-and-shoot, still small enough to fit in a pants pocket, but slippery to grip.

Designed for automatic shooting, with some control for those who want it. But let’s be serious: Just set it and forget it.

Controls

Not much user control, though changes to basic settings like ISO and EV compensation are supported.

Hardware

Don’t expect much from these components. It’s a budget pocket camera that acts like a budget pocket cam, but won’t break if it falls or gets wet.
