Panasonic Lumix GF5 First Impressions Review

We've gone hands-on with Panasonic's latest Micro Four Thirds camera, the GF5.

Introduction

The Panasonic Lumix GF5 is an entry-level Micro Four Thirds camera that is the successor to 2011's Panasonic GF3. The GF5 features a new 12-megapixel image sensor, image processing engine, improved handling, and updated user interface. The GF3 will remain in Panasonic's 2012 lineup for the time being, with the GF5 likely replacing it as the entry-point to Panasonic's MFT line later this year. The GF5 will be kitted with Panasonic's 14-42mm lens, with kit options also available that include the 14mm f/2.5 lens and the 14-42mm powered zoom lens from Panasonic. While price and availability were not immediately available, Panasonic stated the likely kit price with the standard 14-42mm lens would be $599.99 at launch.
