Sample Photos

In the following sample images, clicking on the larger image will download the full resolution original. Each photo is accompanied by four actual-size crops.

Landscape Sample

Focal length: 5mm
Aperture: f/5.6
Shutter: 1/320
ISO:200

Shot in program mode on a cold clear winter day, with the zoom lens at its widest setting. This photo demonstrates the camera’s ability to capture crisp detail with minimal chromatic aberration, even in the corners of the frame.

Zoom Sample

Focal length: 50mm
Aperture: f/8
Shutter: 1/500
ISO:200

This was taken with the lens at its maximum zoom setting, in program mode. There is an impressive level of detail, though the effects of oversharpening can be seen in the full-size crops. The multiple metering system did a nice job balancing the white ducks with the dark background.

Low Light Close-Up Samples

Focal length: 16mm
Aperture: f3.4
Shutter: 1/13 second
ISO:1600

We mounted the FZ35 on a trip0d to test both the camera’s close-up capabilities and the effect of noise reduction on image detail. There is some subtle blurring in Abe’s hair as we crank up the noise reduction processing (there are five levels in all – we’ve included the highest, lowest and default middle setting here), but when viewed at a typical size, the difference isn’t visible.

High-Contrast Sample

Focal length: 16mm
Aperture: f/4
Shutter: 1/200
ISO:100

This shot was taken in the early morning light, with spot metering off the snow shovel’s handle and -1 EV of exposure compensation. This kept the bright lit wooden handle from blowing out, and if you look closely you can see some detail remains in the shadowed areas as well.
