The Panasonic DMC-FX580 strikes a nice middle ground between having manual control options and also including plenty of automated scene modes and settings. The large LCD screen looks wonderful, but you could run into some trouble with glare on a very bright day. Overall, we liked the touchscreen system to a point—it definitely wasn't the perfect method for making precise adjustment, but it worked well most of the time. We're also happy that Panasonic left the option of using the traditional navigation pad to adjust most settings as well. You get quite a variety of options with the FX580, and with an MSRP of $399 the model should be intriguing to a diverse group of consumers.
