At PMA, Panasonic announced the release of their new Lumix DMC-FX01, which looks to add a new dimension to the point-and-shoot market with a 28-102mm wide angle zoom lens for both still and video capture that should directly compete with the recently released Kodak EasyShare V570. Within this camera is Panasonic’s signature MEGA optical image stabilization along with 3.6x optical zoom and a 6 MP CCD. Along with a full auto mode are a handful of manual control options and 16 preset shooting modes, all for an initial MSRP of $349.95.
