June 4, 2007 – Matsushita Electric Co., Panasonic's parent company, today announced the 7.2-megapixel point-and-shoot Lumix DMC-FS2 with optical image stabilization. The camera will hit retail shelves on June 15th, according to a company press release. Pricing has not yet been announced.

Equipped with a 7.2MP CCD, the Panasonic FS2 is fitted with a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.5-inch, 115,000-pixel resolution LCD screen. The camera measures 3.7 x 0.95 x 2.02 inches (94.1 x 24.2 x 51.4mm). It touts a maximum sensitivity of 1250 ISO at full resolution and 3200 ISO in High Sensitivity mode.

Like past Lumix cameras, the new Panasonic FS2 is capable of shooting in three ratios: the standard 4:3, 3:2, and wide 16:9. The camera has 20 scene presets, including a Baby mode that marks a child’s age using the built-in calendar function. The FS2 also has a Travel Date function and dedicated Print mode option.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS2 comes with 27 MB of built-in memory and accepts SD and SDHC media. The camera will be available in silver, black, or pink.
