Canon PowerShot SD960 IS First Impressions Review The Canon PowerShot SD960 IS is a small, curvaceous point-and-shoot that captures 12.1-megapixel stills and high definition 720p video, with a 4x zoom lens and handsome 2.8-inch LCD. We had a chance to try out a pre-production version at the PMA show, and were impressed with the fit, finish and features. A detailed First Impressions review follows.... |

Nikon Coolpix P90 First Impressions Review The Nikon P90 is stuffed with one of the biggest optical zooms on the market—24x. In addition it can capture 12-megapixel images, plays host to a variety of scene modes, and includes a 3-inch, multi-angle, tilting LCD screen. Nikon also makes a big deal about the camera's 4-way vibration reduction and its Smart Portrait System, which uses face detection, blink warnings, red-eye correction, and D-lighting to capture an ideal image. The P90 should be available nationwide later this month and will retail for around $399. |

Sony DSC-T900 First Impressions Review Sony's T900 is the next iteration of their ultra compact touch-screen design, succeeding the T700 in this line. The T900 features a large 3.5 inch touch-screen display with a 4x optical zoom lens. It packs this into a tiny body that's only 16.3mm thick. This is definitely a camera targeted at a style conscious crowd. There's no release date for the T900 yet, but it will retail for $379.99 when it becomes available. |

Fufijilm FinePix F200 First Impressions Review The FinePix F200EXR from Fujifilm is the first camera to use a new generation of image sensor, which looks to have some nifty tricks up its sleeve. The EXR sensor offers full 12-megapixel resolution, but there's also the option to group pixels together, halving the resolution to 6-megapixel but dramatically improving the high ISO noise performance or markedly improving dynamic range. While we can't test these claims till we get a model into our labs, based on our brief hands-on at PMA, the rest of the camera doesn't look too exciting. The F200EXR will make or break depending on the new sensor's effectiveness. The camera is already available, for $399.95, and features a 28mm wide-angle lens with 5x zoom. |

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1 First Impressions Review Panasonic launched its second Micro Four Thirds camera at PMA with the Lumix DMC-GH1, which provides the video recording feature notably missing in the original DMC-G1 camera released last year. At PMA we got our hands on a pre-production sample of the GH1, reasonably feature-complete but not running final firmware. We learned a lot about the camera, as you'll see in our First Impressions review. We didn't learn two crucial bits of information, though: when it will ship, and how much it will cost.... |

Samsung SL620 First Impressions Review The SL620 is a basic point-and-shoot. Its main objective is facilitating ease of use, and the SL620 does it well. It not only has some good automatic settings, include an automatic scene mode and full auto, but also includes a demonstration mode and full help menu. Of course, this means the SL620 has far fewer manual controls than an Ultra-Zoom or a DSLR. What it does have, however, is a far more portable frame and far more affordable price point. The SL620 will be available in March 2009 at an MSRP of $199.99. |

Kodak Z915 First Impressions Review The Z915 is Kodak's entry in the growing market of very compact ultrazoom cameras, packing a 10x optical zoom into a form factor that's small enough to fit easily into most jacket pockets. It lags behind competitors in several respects, with a smaller LCD and no HD video recording, but does beat the others in one key area: the $199.95 price.Kodak Z915 Ultra-Zoom Breaks $200 Barrier |
