The Stylus-7040 has a lot to recommend it. You get a long zoom lens with a wide initial setting in a compact camera body, high-def video with HDMI output, 14-megapixel resolution a sophisticated in-camera panorama and fancy filter effects. The controls are easy to learn and work efficiently, though manual controls are limited. For $250, this strikes us a good deal, as long as the image quality of the final production camera holds up in our lab testing.
