Olympus Plans for $9 Billion Sales in 2007

July 11, 2006 – Olympus Corp. announced this week the company’s Corporate Strategic Plan (CSP) with a sales goal of 1.035 trillion yen ($9 billion) for 2007, according to JPEA International PEN News Weekly, states the Photo Marketing Association.

The three-year plan spans from fiscal years 2006 to 2008, ending in March of 2009. In the plan, Olympus aims for a sales goal of 1.2 times as much as in 2007, resulting in 1.2 trillion yen ($10 billion) in 2008.

Olympus also plans for an operating profit to increase by 1.5 times over the next two years with a goal of 73 billion yen ($635 million) in fiscal year 2007 to 100 billion yen ($870 million) in 2008, according to PEN News Weekly in PMA.

To help reach the company’s goals, Olympus plans on raising the sales in their Imaging Systems Business division with three main products: DSLRs, compact digital cameras, and optical components, according to PEN News Weekly in PMA.
