Digital Camera Review
Nov 20, 2006
- By James Murray
The Olympus FE-200 was released in August of this year and is heavily geared towards the fully automatic and preset shooting photographer looking for simplicity and minimal manual control. The FE-200 has a 1/2.5 inch 6 MP CCD, an Olympus 5x optical zoom lens and manual control over exposure compensation and not much else. The camera comes with an all-metal body and simple external controls that emphasize a straightforward ease of use that is continued in the stripped down menu structure and the scene mode interface that includes both example scenes and full text descriptions. The FE-200 has a 2.5-inch LCD screen as its only viewing device and relies on lithium-ion batteries for power. The camera is also capable of direct printing, but also comes with Olympus Master editing software for personal computers. The Olympus FE-200 is a compact digital camera with a retail price of $249.
