Nikon Warns of Image Malfunctions on 7 Cameras

February 1, 2007 – Nikon this week alerted customers of possible defects in seven point-and-shoot cameras: the CoolPix SQ, 5700, 5400, 5000, 4500, 3500, and 3100. Camera owners who experience color tint problems and all-black images should contact Nikon’s technical service for a free repair, stated the Nikon service advisory.

Nikon encourages users who experience imaging malfunctions to send their cameras to Nikon directly instead of local camera services. Repair time is approximately 5 days, excluding shipping time, according to the company website.

The repair is free of charge. If users have experienced problems before the advisory was announced, those users can request a reimbursement for costs for Nikon-specific repairs, according to the company alert statement.

Nikon owners of problematic Coolpix SQ, 5700, 5400, 5000, 4500, 3500, and 3100 can download a service return form at http://www.nikonusa.com/email_images/nikonusa/service_advisory/coolpix.html.
