Nikon Updates Projector Camera
Nikon has announced an updated version of their projector camera, a point & shoot that incorporates a pico projector. The just announced Coolpix S1100pj includes a 14-lumen pico projector built into the camera body, as well as a 3-inch LCD screen.

The S1100pj includes a 14-lumen projector
The new model is an update to the Coolpix S1000pj that we reviewed here. The projector of the new model, Nikon claims, is 40 percent brighter than that of the S1000pj, and can also be used as a projector when connected to a computer over a USB cable, effectively converting it into a VGA pico projector. Images and videos can also be played back from the memory card, so the camera can be used to show off photos without a computer. The S1100pj captures 14.1 megapixel images and 720p video, and includes a 5x optical zoom lens with a 35mm film camer equivalent zoom of 28 to 140mm. It will be priced at $349.99 when it goes on sale in September.

The S5100 includes a 5x zoom lens
Also announced today was the Coolpix S5100, a 12.2-megapixel slim camera that includes a 2.7-inch LCD screen and a 5x zoom lens. This camera can also capture 720/30p video and is available in black, pink, purple and blue. This S5100 is due to hit stores in October, with an estimated MSRP of $179.99.
