Nikon Delays Capture NX and Nikon View Pro Software

April 18, 2006 – Nikon pushed back the release dates for the previously announced Capture NX and Nikon View Pro software. The original announcement for the new products came on February 21 and anticipated a May release. However, Nikon’s more recent press release states, “The release schedule for these products has been changed due to a slight delay in their development schedule.”

The Nikon Capture NX software allows editing of images, while the Nikon View Pro software is for browsing and organizing. The programs are meant to complement each other.

“Nikon View Pro is the perfect solution for professional photographers looking to simplify the process of browsing through hundreds of photos from a shoot, comparing and choosing their ‘select’ shots,” said Michael Rubin, senior manager for software products at Nikon, in the Feb. 21 press release.

Photographers will have to keep awaiting their “perfect solution.” The Nikon Capture NX release date is now scheduled for July 2006, while the View Pro browsing software is to be announced at a later date.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for customers waiting for the product release due to the delay from the original date projected in the initial announcement,” the recent press release stated. “We are working hard on completing the development process and we appreciate your patience and kind understanding.”
