The Nikon D800 is one of the most-discussed cameras of 2012.

Introduction

When the Nikon D800 was first announced, there were some serious questions asked about Nikon's product strategy. Where the Nikon D700 was a fast-shooting full-frame body, the Nikon D800 and its remarkable 36.3-megapixel sensor were ridiculed for their focus on megapixels at the expense of speed. As the test scores began rolling in, however, it became clear that Nikon photographers had a serious winner on their hands. While the Nikon D800 isn't all that fast, its high-resolution image sensor provides photographers with flexibility that few other full-frame models on the market can match.

The Nikon D800 is available now for a body-only price of $2999.95. We tested the camera with the Nikkor 24-120mm f/4 lens.
