Digital Camera Review

Several weeks ago at PMA in Orlando, Florida, Nikon announced their new point-and-shoot Coolpix digital camera lineup for 2005. Just below the flagship model of the lineup is the Nikon Coolpix 5900. The only notable difference between the Coolpix 5900 and the slightly more expensive Coolpix 7900 is the reduction in effective megapixels from 7.1 to 5.1. The Nikon Coolpix 5900 has the same hardware with a 1/1.8-inch CCD, a 3x Zoom-Nikkor ED glass lens with a 38-114mm (35mm equivalent) focal range, and with a 2-inch, 115k LCD screen. The Coolpix 5900 will be available in March 2005 at an MSRP of $349.95 (USD).
