Nikon Adds Support for Intel Macs, Windows Vista to Capture NX

January 16, 2007 – Nikon Inc. announced last week an update to their photo management software Capture NX beta with full support for Intel-based Macs and new editing tools. Nikon also announced compatibility with its D40 DSLR and the new Microsoft Windows Vista.

The Nikon D40, an entry-level model and the newest member of the Nikon DSLR family announced at CES last week, is the first digital camera with Windows Vista capability . Microsoft’s Windows Vista comes with an improved Photo Gallery, Group Shot tool, and a Dream Scene video desktop wallpaper. "Nikon is confident that the D40 will satisfy users of Windows Vista with superb image quality and enhanced functionality at a significant value," said Nikon Inc. director of marketing and planning Bo Kajiwara.

Nikon also updated the beta version of Capture NX to support Intel-based Mac OS X systems. Based on customer feedback, Capture NX adds 25 new editing tools, including batch processing and distortion correction. The photo management software boasts non-destructive editing and can support JPEG, TIFF, and Nikon RAW (NEF) files.

Nikon Capture NX retails for $149.95 for the full version and $89.98 for the upgrade.
