Nextel PhotoShare Offers Imaging Alternatives for Multimedia Phones

June 28, 2005 – Spawned by Fujifilm’s Get the Picture Mobile Service, a recently developed PhotoShare website (www.nextel.com/photoshare) will provide Nextel multimedia-messaging-enabled phone users with printing alternatives and image maintenance capabilities directly from their mobile device. Features available on the web site will also apply to images captured with a digital camera, helping turn Nextel multimedia phones into digital image viewers.

Following a free 30-day trial, Nextel customers can print, store, and share their digital images directly from their handheld units for an additional $2.99 monthly charge. The technology developed by North Carolina-based Summus Inc. will also grant Nextel users access to Fujifilm’s developed network of over 3,100 retailers, including Ritz Camera and Sam’s Club. With the service, users can obtain prints as quickly as an hour after capture or can have the images sent directly to their home.

“The ‘always with you’ nature of the mobile phone makes it a perfect platform for the casual photographer. By taking existing, tested processes developed through the digital imaging evolution…we enable mobile phone users to enjoy and share their pictures,” said John Prendergast, Vice president, Strategic Business Development, Imaging Group, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. “

Interested Nextel users can download the necessary software directly from their multimedia-messaging-enabled mobile phones and begin the free 30 day trial.
