NYT Turns over U.S. Photo Licensing to Redux Pictures

August 3, 2006 - The New York Times Company announced on Monday that photo agency Redux Pictures will license NYT Co. photos to most U.S. outlets.

Redux, headquartered in New York, will now license Times’ images to magazines, books, websites, broadcasts, and commercial markets in America, according to a NYT Monday press release. The three-year-old firm has outsourced photos for Corbis, Picture Group, and Saba Agency.

For overseas outlets, the NYT will continue to license photos. The Times will also continue to provide photos to clients of the NYT News Service and Syndicate and all newspapers, domestic and international.

The Times, possessing "one of the world’s oldest and largest photo archives," according to the release, houses over 7 million images, dating back since the early 1900s.
